This story has been told before and will, no doubt be told and retold many times more.
Nevertheless, let me take my turn, in the hope that at least some readers and LinkedIn users who might be unfamiliar with the tale, manage to find even a little something of interest in it that might help them better understand (at least according to my own take on the issue) how LinkedIn came to be what it is and why (I believe) it did so.
